What Is a Placenta and Why Is It So Important?
When you’re pregnant, one of the most amazing organs God creates inside you is the placenta. It’s not just a piece of tissue—it’s a living organ that shows life has begun in the womb.
What Does the Placenta Do?
The placenta starts developing early in pregnancy and is fully formed by about the 12th week. This is usually when morning sickness begins to fade because the placenta has attached firmly to the womb.
Its job is incredible:
It connects mom and baby through the umbilical cord.
It carries nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the baby.
It removes waste from the baby back to the mother.
Think of it as a life-support system—a network that links parents’ contributions to the baby’s growth.
Physical and Spiritual Role
The placenta is both a physical organ and a spiritual foundation. It carries elements from both parents—good and bad—to the baby. That’s why prayer over the placenta is so important. It holds the unborn child for nine months and is the base for life inside the womb.
What Does a Placenta Look Like?
It’s a flat, circular organ with two surfaces.
It weighs about 450 grams (around one-sixth of the baby’s weight).
The umbilical cord and membranes attach to it.
The umbilical cord can be up to 50 cm long and contains:
One vein (brings oxygen-rich blood to the baby).
Two arteries (carry waste back to the placenta).
The placenta has:
Maternal surface – dark red and uneven.
Fetal surface – gray with blood vessels running across.
Normal vs. Abnormal Placenta
Normal placenta: Healthy, free from disease or attack, and comes out easily after birth.
Abnormal placenta: Can be affected by infections, deformities, or even spiritual attacks. These issues may cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or health problems for the baby.
What Does the Placenta Do? 5 Amazing Functions
The placenta is more than just an organ—it’s a lifeline for your baby during pregnancy. Here are its five key functions:
1. Life Support System
The placenta connects mom and baby. It filters everything the mother takes in and passes what the baby needs to grow. Even though the baby is inside the mother, their blood doesn’t mix—the placenta acts as the link.
2. Nutrition Provider
The placenta delivers essential nutrients like:
Amino acids (for growth)
Glucose (energy)
Fatty acids
Vitamins and minerals
These come from the mother’s blood and help the baby develop at every stage.
3. Protection
The placenta acts like a shield. It allows protective antibodies to pass to the baby and blocks many harmful substances, including some viruses.
4. Waste Removal
The placenta removes waste products and carbon dioxide from the baby’s blood and sends them back to the mother for disposal.

Witchcraft and the Placenta – Why Prayer Matters
The Bible teaches that when we obey God, the earth blesses us. But the kingdom of darkness knows this principle too—and tries to twist it. Psalm 74:20 says, “The dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence.” These are places where demonic altars have been raised against God’s plan.
Why Witchcraft Targets the Placenta
Witchcraft believes power comes through blood because “life is in the blood.” That’s why blood sacrifices are common in satanic rituals. Sometimes, even the blood from a placenta is used. This is because the placenta is the foundation of life for every baby.
For generations, some families have practiced witchcraft—using human blood, eating flesh, and dedicating babies to spirits. These sins can affect future generations because spiritual seeds are passed down through the bloodline.
The Placenta as a Spiritual Gateway
The placenta is not only a physical organ—it’s a spiritual foundation. The enemy uses this principle to transfer curses and demonic afflictions from one generation to the next. Many babies have been dedicated to ancestral spirits, water spirits, or nature spirits. This is an ungodly practice that displeases God.
Psalm 127:3 reminds us: “Children are a heritage from the Lord.” Every child belongs to God—not to spirits or altars.

Witchcraft in families pollutes the land and leads to violence, corruption, and spiritual blindness. It blocks creativity, innovation, and God’s direction. Instead of being inventors of good, societies become inventors of evil.

Evil Practices with the Placenta – Why You Must Pray Over It
In some cultures, the placenta is not just discarded after birth—it’s preserved for rituals later in life. For example, when a child grows up, the family may roast the placenta and eat it together. This creates a deep spirit-soul tie among family members. It can even affect marriages, causing problems or divorce for spouses who marry into such families.
Buried on Cursed Land
In other cases, parents are manipulated by witchdoctors or agents of darkness to bury the placenta on cursed land or near a family altar. This connects the child spiritually to that land. As the child grows, they may:
Dream about that land repeatedly.
Hear voices calling them back.
Feel drawn to ancestral practices or rituals.
Some even hear voodoo drums in dreams, summoning them to serve family altars. Why? Because the placenta acts like a spiritual magnet, pulling them back to their roots.

Many believers today don’t realize these practices happened in their families. These hidden rituals can keep lives trapped in spiritual prisons, blocking growth in the Lord.
The good news? Jesus Christ breaks every chain. Through prayer and deliverance, these ties can be cut, and destinies restored.
Prayer Against Evil Practices With the Placenta
Father YHVH, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I come under the blood of the Lamb.
Thank You for the life You have given me and my child. I confess that You alone are God, and besides You there is no other (Isaiah 45:5). I submit myself, my womb, my baby, and the placenta completely to You.
1. Consecration of the Placenta
Father, I bring before You the placenta connected to my life and destiny.
I ask You, Lord, that it will function 100% perfectly according to Your divine design and purpose in my body.
“I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)
Let my baby be firmly established in my womb upon the Word of God. Let the power of Your Word take over the very root and foundation of this placenta (Hebrews 4:12).
I declare:
This placenta belongs to YHVH.
My body belongs to YHVH.
My child belongs to YHVH.
2. Breaking Family Altars & Evil Foundations
Father, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I petition Heaven that every foundation of witchcraft, idolatry, polygamy, adultery, and any occult practice in my family line be shattered by the voice of the Lord.
“The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars…” (Psalm 29:5)
“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
Let every ancestral covenant that wants to speak through my placenta and my bloodline be silenced by the blood of Y’shua (Hebrews 12:24).
3. Exposing Hidden Evil Agendas
Holy Spirit, search through my life, my bloodline, and my foundations.
Expose every hidden agenda of the evil one that is:
Limiting my marriage,
Hindering my fruitfulness,
Attacking my destiny,
Fighting my children.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart…” (Psalm 139:23)
Father, expose every evil plan or intention any person has against me or my children, using the placenta as a point of contact. Let their counsel be turned to foolishness (2 Samuel 15:31).
“Take counsel together, but it shall come to nothing; speak the word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” (Isaiah 8:9–10)
I decree: Every evil agenda against my placenta, my womb, my child, and my destiny is disappointed and scattered in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus)!
4. Nullifying Evil Disposal Patterns of the Placenta
Father, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I nullify and destroy every evil pattern and tradition of placenta disposal in my family line:
Every burial in evil places,
Every dedication to idols,
Every offering to spirits,
Every occult ritual done with the placenta.
I ask You, Lord, to burn down every evil altar speaking from my father’s house, my mother’s house, or my in-laws’ house, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus).
“For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:29)
We redeem every drop of blood and every tissue cell of the placenta by the blood of Y’shua (Ephesians 1:7). I take it out of the clutches of every occult practitioner, witch, sangoma, or witchdoctor in Y’shua’s (Jesus’) Name.
I cancel the power of every ritual ever done with the placenta, spoken or unspoken, known or unknown. I command every spiritual prison holding me back from growth in the things of YHVH to be destroyed by the Fire of God!
“He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.” (Psalm 107:14)
5. Renouncing Spiritual Spouses & Ungodly Soul Ties
In the Name of Y’shua (Jesus),
I divorce and renounce every spiritual husband or spiritual wife connected to my placenta, my bloodline, my womb, my dreams, or my body.
I break their claims, their covenant, and their rights over my life by the blood of Y’shua.
“Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” (John 8:36)
I command the earth to vomit the placenta where it was buried under any evil covenant.
Let every evil voice rising from that ground be silenced by the blood of Y’shua (Revelation 12:11).
6. Breaking Forest, Animal, Water & Grave Covenants
Forest Spirits
Father, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I break every covenant made between any tree, forest, or land and my placenta.
Wherever a tree was planted with my placenta, I cut off every spiritual connection.
I cut myself free from every forest spirit in Y’shua’s (Jesus) Name.
“Every plant that My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.” (Matthew 15:13)
Animal Spirits
In the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I break every covenant between my placenta and any animal.
If the placenta was given to an animal to eat, I break that evil transaction and command every spirit of immorality, perversion, or uncleanness connected to that act to leave my life now in Y’shua’s Name.
“For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.” (1 Thessalonians 4:7)
Water Spirits
Father, where my placenta has been cast into rivers, seas, lakes, or any water and connected to water spirits, I ask You to cut off every tie to those occult power bases in Y’shua’s (Jesus) Name.
“When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19)
I declare that every marine covenant involving my placenta is broken by the blood of Y’shua and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Spirits of the Dead
In the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), I break every covenant between my placenta and the grave.
If my placenta was buried in a grave of the dead, I cut off every tie to the spirits of the dead and every ancestral spirit.
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” (Colossians 1:13)
I bind every evil spirit that has been summoned to use my spirit or my placenta as a legal right. I cast them out in Y’shua’s (Jesus) Name.
I cut off every placenta attachment to my place of birth, village, land, or territory that is speaking against me in the spirit realm.
I belong to YHVH, not to territorial spirits.
7. Recovering Lost Blessings
In the Name of Y’shua (Jesus),
I take back every blessing that was stolen, diverted, or lost through placenta manipulation, occult practices, and evil covenants.
“I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” (Joel 2:25)
By the blood of Y’shua, I recover and possess:
My health,
My fruitfulness,
My marital peace,
My financial blessings,
My spiritual gifts,
My children’s destinies.
Every satanic embargo over my womb, my children, my destiny, and my household is lifted now in Y’shua’s (Jesus) Name.

8. Final Declarations of Victory
I declare:
The placenta is sanctified by the blood of Y’shua.
Every evil agreement is cancelled and nailed to the cross. (Colossians 2:14–15)
I and my house belong to YHVH. (Joshua 24:15)
My child will serve the Lord and fulfill divine destiny. (Jeremiah 1:5)
By the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony, I overcome every power that tried to use my placenta as a legal ground. (Revelation 12:11)

Presenting the Placenta as a Living Sacrifice
Father, I present to You my body, my womb, my baby, and this placenta as a living sacrifice.

Let this placenta be set apart for Your glory.
Let it function perfectly, nourishing my child according to Your design.
I declare: No evil hand, altar, or power will use this placenta as a point of contact against my child, in Y’shua’s Name.

Blessing and Destiny of the Child
Father, in the Name of Y’shua (Jesus), we thank You for this unborn child.
We treasure this child as a gift from You.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” (Psalm 127:3)
Our child is created in Your Image, perfectly formed and complete.
You have known our child from conception and have written every day of his/her life in Your book.

So we declare: This child is blessed, crowned with glory and honor, and set apart for Your purposes.

Standing on the Promise of Isaiah 44
Father, we thank You for Your promise in Isaiah, and we proclaim it over this child and this placenta:
“Thus says the Lord, who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you:
Fear not… For I will pour water on him who is thirsty and floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your offspring, and My blessing on your descendants.” (Isaiah 44:2–3)
You have chosen us as parents. You have formed our child from the womb, and You will help us.
We will not fear, because You are with us.
Pour Your Spirit upon our offspring and Your blessing upon our descendants.
Let our children spring up like willows by the watercourses—strong, nourished, fruitful, and rooted in Your Word.
We declare prophetically:
One child will say, “I am the Lord’s.”

Father, we set our hope on You. In You we trust; let us not be disappointed, and let not our enemies triumph over us.

Teach us Your ways.
Guide us in Your truth and faithfulness as we make decisions concerning this pregnancy, this birth, this baby, and what to do with the placenta.

Do not remember the sins of our youth or our past mistakes, Lord.
According to Your mercy and steadfast love, remember us and deal with us in Your goodness.
